Awesome. I wasn’t alive for this, but I worked for the Oakland Athletics diamond vision from 2008-2018. I love these stories.

Michael, Thanks for your kind words. Do you know Ted? He's a great guy. And he goes to all the 1970s A's World Championship reunions. Sadly some of the members of those great teams are no longer with us.

I don’t know him. My job consisted of shooting games and fans for the in arena board-show. I never interacted much with players. I had several interactions with Ray Fosse and he was always smiling, telling stories and making you feel seen.

Ray Fosse was the catcher on the 1973 World Series team. He is the one who "tagged out" Bud Harrelson in the 10th inning of game 2. Willie Mays was on deck when that play happened. He ran over to home plate as the play was developing. And he saw, up close, Fosse MISS the tag. Willie then dropped to his knees, raised his arms skyward and begged the umpire to change the call. The site of Mays on his knees pleading is one of the greatest photos in sports history in my opinion. Here's a link to the photo if you've never seen it: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1967264753475492&id=607345726134075&set=a.607350146133633
