I readily admit to not being an expert on Chi Chi's career exploits. However, anytime you find yourself being mentioned in any article written by Jim Murray or Dan Jenkins, you my friend, have officially made it. Murray was to sports writing what Gretzky was to hockey, the standard of excellence. However, I am unwilling to place any writer above Jenkins when it comes to "smartass" metaphorical comparisons. He was the King of imagination, IMHO. Excellent article Len.
Lawrence, thanks so much for your comment. One of my goals with The Sports Time Traveler is to make people aware of the great sports writing of people like Jim Murray and Dan Jenkins. I have to admit, I had never heard of Jim Murray before I started The Sports Time Traveler in 2022. Now I enjoy reading Jim Murray anytime I'm traveling virtually in Los Angeles in the 1960s or 1970s. He wrote so many, many great pieces. There's nothing out there like Jim Murray today.
