Peter,

Thanks so much for your feedback!

As a follow up to the article, in the final 2 rounds of the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic Snead slipped to 15th place, 7 shots behind the winner.

But when you add his scores together from the Los Angeles Open the week before and the Jackie Gleason tournament, Snead had the LOWEST SCORE on the PGA TOUR for those 2 WEEKS – better than Nicklaus, Miller, Trevino, Watson and everyone else.

50 years ago yesterday, the New York Times wrote a special piece on Sam Snead’s brilliant play for the two weeks. But they didn’t point out that stat I found, that he had the lowest score over the 2 tournaments.

It’s that kind of fascinating find that gets me excited about this journey I’ve been on as The Sports Time Traveler.

Thanks for being a loyal reader.

Great story. What a day! But Larry Bird called. He wants his shorts back.

Thanks Greg. Wish I had a similar story about Bird. I actually have a funny little story about seeing Magic Johnson in person for another time.

Great story, and obviously, including the legendary Sam Snead, your wife, a 30 second lesson, and the excitement of your first pro-am.

Thanks so much Dave.

That moment I saw Sam Snead hovering above me is a priceless memory. I can't think of a better way to ever have met such a giant figure of the game.
