80 years ago yesterday, Babe Ruth, age 47, came to the plate at Yankee Stadium to face Walter Johnson in a benefit match up in between a Yankees doubleheader.

Last week I found out that a special moment was “coming up” in 1942 that I could not miss. Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson agreed to appear at Yankee stadium for a war fundraising benefit. Here’s the story of my quick visit to Yankee Stadium 80 years ago.
