Linked By Golf Podcast Features The Sports Time Traveler
Listen to 3 dramatic stories from my book - GREAT GOLF TOURNAMENTS
Here’s something to listen to in the car.
The Sports Time Traveler was a guest on Linked By Golf, one of the big golf podcasts in the UK.
They invited me on the show to share 3 stories from my book GREAT GOLF TOURNAMENTS.
Here’s the podcast link:
Linked By Golf - The Sports Time Traveler
The first few minutes of the podcast provide a brief explanation of what I do as The Sports Time Traveler and why it’s different than other sports history and golf writing.
The three stories I tell are:
The 1975 Masters
The 1922 British Open
The 1972 British Open
These are three incredibly dramatic golf tournaments.
The 1975 Masters featured Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller and Tom Weiskopf, the three hottest players in the world at that time, going head-to-head-to-head in an all-time classic “shootout,”
The 1972 British Open was notable because it’s one of only 5 times that a player entered the British Open with a chance to win the single season Grand Slam. Nicklaus had already won the 1972 Masters and 1972 US Open, and he openly discussed his desire to win the Grand Slam.
The 1922 British Open was the first time that a slew of foreign golfers, including American Walter Hagen, were favored to win this hallowed title. But an old British guard of winners, going all the way back to 1893, gave the foreigners a mighty challenge. It came down to a dramatic 18th hole in which one official asked the crowd around the green to get on their knees and pray!

The book makes for a sensational Father’s Day Gift. It consists of 27 short stories of golf tournaments taking place 50 - 100 years ago. There is suspense right from the beginning of every story, and you don’t find out who won until the end of each chapter.
If you message me, I will send you a sample chapter.
I’d love your feedback on the podcast.
