Hagen Hailed as a Hero

100 years ago this weekend Walter Hagen returned to the USA after becoming the first American born golfer to with the British Open golf championship.

Walter Hagen, who won the British Open Golf Championship at Royal St George's Golf Club in Sandwich, England ten days ago, returned to America “yesterday” and received a heroes welcome as the first American born winner.
