INTRO From The Sports Time Traveler™ The late afternoon of June 9, 1973 was dry and warm in New York. 2 horses were being prepared to meet for their final epic battle in the Belmont Stakes. Secretariat would have a chance to win the coveted Triple Crown, a feat that had not been accomplished in 25 years, and some said might never be done again.
